I was emailed my grades: I passed! Which is good enough given it’s a course with a 70% fail rate.

One of my professors forgot to send me my grades and she’s kept enough grades away from me so that I can’t even know if I passed the course, so I remain in a sort of... Schrödinger’s cat situation. Where I’m simultaneously failed and passed when it comes to circuits... Which reminds me of Mexico City’s Metro. What the fuck is it anyway?

Kinja'd!!!

I mean, it has those big ass, pneumatic tires, so it’s a bus, but it’s also got rails so, it’s a train? Whatever it is NEVER NEVER take line two. I mean, pretty much every east-west line is shit except the twelfth.... but still don’t take line two (or any line on a Friday) unless you want to become a meme.

They have at least one of those rubber tired subways in Paris, and of course they are common for people-mover type solutions. I have no idea if they are actually a net win over traditional rail subways.

Montreal also has a rubber-tyred metro system, modelled after Paris’.

I’ve never ridden it, but I imagine it’s far more comfortable than a regular system.

Oh, so it’s like the Paris Métro MPs. They’re supposed to run more quietly, but as you noticed they still use steel rails and wheels for guidance, which I suppose would still make noise.

Probably cheaper and faster to build. Also here probably safer given all of the seismic activity is constantly damaging the lines that do have rails.

But in the long run, I bet those require more maintenance , are more expensive to run, and they are slower. Anytime it rains they have to reduce the Metro’s overland speed from 80km/h to 40km/h....

I think we use French or Canadian trains... so it’s probably true.

I mean, I hardly notice any difference over any other metro I’ve used.

I can confirm that both Paris and Montreal rubber tire metros make weird squeaky noises. The noise isn’t annoying so the regular users probably don’t even think about this. Also some rubber smell is present in the stations.

That explains the smell! When I was visiting Montreal I couldn’t place the smell present  in the stations, and obviously I didn’t check to see if they were rubber tyre metros
